Marketers are leaders. In fact, we’re often asked to lead some of the most important (and sophisticated) initiatives in our organizations. Take rebrands as an example. What could possibly be more meaningful to an organization than its essential identity, its life-line interface with customers?
Yet how many marketing professionals take the time to really hone their leadership skills?
We spend the majority of our time thinking about CRM systems, media buying platforms, and design toolkits. Leading significant change like rebranding, new campaigns, budget changes, or major technology shifts requires more than marketing know-how. We need to understand what influences others, especially those over whom we don’t necessarily hold a position of power.
This leadership discipline intersects perfectly with marketing: When we learn what influences others inside our organizations, we can apply it to influencing people outside it as well. Marketers need to understand influence (which in its most effective frame is leading without power) and Influence vs. Power will help marketers at any level by reframing ourselves as leaders. Leaders of internal change initiatives, leaders of marketing teams, and leaders of customers.
What You Will Learn:
Aaron will speak from a marketing perspective on how to leverage influence vs. power, and our audience will walk away with a better understanding of how to:
- Lead internal change initiatives
- Lead collaborative and innovative marketing teams
- Influence change and decisions outside of their organizations
All marketers are leaders, whether you are starting out if your career or managing an entire division. You don’t want to miss this highly interactive Trailblazer Series with takeaways from a highly admired marketing leader!
About the Speaker:
Aaron Templer is a consultant with a music problem. He is a 20+ year marketing leader and Founder + CXO of a brand and marketing firm—Three Over Four—that focuses on influence: the intersection of leadership and marketing. Three Over Four’s clients span many industries but they’re usually world-changers that have something driving them other than profit. Aaron is deeply involved with the American Marketing Association as an award-winning past president, professional instructor, and President-Elect of their Professional Chapters Council where he helps leaders in chapters around the country as well as speaks and facilitates at AMA conferences.
